the home stretch

you can see by the photo that we've been moved again. this time it's to a room with windows and an attached bathroom. why such a nice, private room, you might ask? well, my friend, it's because we have reached the point when lilly is ready to come home. yup, barring any major 'events' the entire family will be on the road back to houghton tomorrow! yes, yes. for tonight, we're in command. it's like a dress rehearsal for the rest of our lives as parents. lilly's still hooked up to her monitors — and she'll have to be hooked up to a heart-rate and apnea monitor at home for a while. but she's ours! the nurses are hands-off for the most part tonight! they'll just weigh and measure her once tonight, is all.

seems like they're really cleaning house around here lately... there's been at least one baby a day out the door for the past few days. and now it's lilly's turn!! i managed to catch nurses amber and jaime before they left for the night. got a couple good pictures of them in the album. i made up nicknames for them, like i have for the others. amber gets sh*t done; she knows what these babies are capable of and won't accept anything less from them! and jaime, she is just a sweetheart. i didn't get bobbi or jane or martha or 'firecracker' or jen or melissa or kathy or all the others i can't think of right now because i'm so tired... oh well. it was just this evening that they decided to let our lilly go, so not enough time to catch them all on their various shifts... but they're all great. i'll try to get some more tomorrow. maybe the next time we're in marqette we'll drop in and get a few more. btw, regardless of how sweet and kind they all are, not one of them have given me my own set of scrubs, for to keep. goody-goodies.

not that it's important, but there's an exhibit of ritch branstrom's work at the art museum at nmu. we popped in there this afternoon and saw what he had on display; cool stuff. he's the guy who makes the junk-art fish and little dog that we have. he does some really neat stuff. it was a good distraction for the afternoon. here, here's a picture of a crucifix he made: there are no titles for his works, so i'll call it junkyard jesus

you can't see in the picture, but his legs are the wooden bits from some old guns. and the halo around his head is an old, rusted model train track. also, he's got a knotted up chunk of hose for his junk!
